16 teenagers from Elad settlement apprehended for harassing Arab bus drivers
After several complaints from bus drivers, the police decided to run a sting operation with undercover policemen in order to catch teenagers who target Arab bus drivers on the line from the Ultra-orthodox Jewish settlement Elad to Petah Tikva. After the teenagers would identify the driver as an Arab, they would try to vandalize the bus, threaten the driver with racist slurs and refuse to pay for the ride. Altogether the police arrested sixteen teens aged 15-17.
It is suspected the teenagers were operating under the direction of the extreme right wing movement Lehava. It is worth mentioning that the site YNet has recently published an alarming in depth expose of the movement, revealing their methods and the systematic incitement for violent acts their active members are exposed to.
