Head of UN inquiry into events in Gaza quits after allegations imply bias

by Peace We Can  05.02.2015 William Schabas was appointed last August to head the United Nations Human Rights Commission inquiry into the events that took place in Gaza last summer during Operation Protective Edge. Yet recently in came to light that Schabas, had worked as a consultant for the PlO in 2012, causing Israel to claim he has a pro-Palestinian bias.

It should be mentioned that from the start Israel has opposed the Committee's agenda, and has refused to cooperate with the investigation, calling the United Nations Human Rights Council  "a kangaroo court, whose 'investigations' are pre-determined" as Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said in a statement.
